Ängelholm jest małym miasteczkiem nad samym brzegiem Morza Bałtyckiego, a dokładniej Zatoki Kattegat. Z trzech stron otoczony jest lasami, a nad brzegiem morza królują wydmy porośnięte bujną roślinnością. Cały teren jest czysty i sprawia wrażenie nietkniętego cywilizacją. W pobliżu tego właśnie miasteczka, 18 maja 1946 roku doszło do najsłynniejszego w historii szwedzkiej ufologii spotkania z obiektem UFO.
W dzielnicy Vegeholm, a dokładniej w lesie „Sibirien" na południe odniewielkiego jeziora, 28-letni Gösta Carlson (znany hokeista, a w latach późniejszych jeden z najbogatszych przemysłowców szwedzkich) ujrzał duży obiekt o kształcie spodka. Obiekt wylądował na polanie. Był metaliczny i miał kopułę, na której były widoczne owalne okienka. Z dolnej części spodka wystawało urządzenie przypominające płetwę. Na górze był zamontowany maszt emitujący światło. Po chwili obiekt wystartował. Na polanie pozostał okrągły odcisk oraz wypalony ślad w kształcie okręgu. Oględziny miejsca zdarzenia doprowadziły do ciekawego odkrycia.
Kilkadziesiąt metrów od polany na której Gosta Carslon widział obiekt ktoś wykonał kilkumetrową dziurę w ziemi. Miejsce po zabranej ziemi jest do tej pory doskonale widoczne. Informacja o wydarzeniu była nagłaśniana już w latach siedemdziesiątych ubiegłego wieku i pojawiła się na mapach Szwecji jako "UFO-model". Początkowo przypadkiem zajmował się Eugen Semitjov, ale prawdziwy rozgłos historii przyniosła dopiero książka napisana wspólnie przez znanego szwedzkiego dziennikarza i ufologa - Clasa Svahna oraz Gostę Carlsona. Książka została wydana w połowie lat 90-tych w nakładzie 3000 egzemplarzy."
